We recently returned from a week of R&R on the beautiful island of Kauai, and feel we discovered the real Hawaii in the unspoiled beauty of the north shore. Only four miles from the town of Hanalei is a fabulous and affordable riverfront vacation rental called Aloha Sweet Seclusion. There are three units on this property. We stayed in the Treetop Studio, and it was a pleasure to really stretch out as this "studio" was 900 square feet with big picture windows overlooking the bamboo forest and the small river passing by the swaying palms and banana trees. The main room has a king bed, while a small alcove has a queen. A fully appointed kitchenette is available, and there is a screened-in lanai and breezeway. A TV, VCR and CD player are all included. We woke up to a chorus of birds each morning and fell asleep to the sound of the gentle river each night. Our host, Ray Songtree, was helpful in pointing out the best beaches for swimming, snorkeling, surfing and kayaking, and has equipment for rental. Famous Tunnels beach is close by, as is Lumahai Beach (remember Mitzi Gaynor in South Pacific?). The units just opened so everything is brand new and decorated in island style. And the best thing is the price!
